Gypsies and Travellers Consultation:

It was announced at the Parish Council Meeting on Thursday 29th January that Theydon Bois and District Rural Preservation Society are now fully endorsing a joint response to the Gypsies and Travellers Consultation Document.

As noted below it was agreed from the outset that all groups making a response to the consultation would work together and share information. Theydon Bois and District Rural Preservation Society has decided that the best way forward is to fully endorse the document already prepared by TBAG that takes into account all this pooled information from the various groups in the village that are opposing nominated sites 20b & 20c. This was intended as a joint Theydon Bois Parish Council/ Theydon Bois Action Group Response and will now also represent the views of the Preservation Society. The 'Joint Response' will include a covering letters from the Society, TBAG and the Parish Council outlining their status, aims and objectives and summarising their endorsement. All of the main groupings in the village are of the view that a Unified Response  is the best way to respond to EFDC. It also avoids needless duplication of effort. The smaller, but important, South Theydon Bois Residents Association will be making their own representation that has been prepared by consultants, but have also generously shared the evidence contained in the consultants reports and this has formed part of the 'joint submission. The Preservation Society has expressed their thanks to TBAG for their hard work in preparing the 'joint response.

If you have not already done so will you please try to sign up to the Theydon Bois Parish Council/ Theydon Bois Action Group/Theydon Bois & District Rural Preservation Society Response before Monday. Encourage your family and friends to do likewise. Copies of the 'Sign-Up' Form are available in the Parish Office.

Epping Forest District Council expect to receive submissions from literally "thousands" of residents this coming Monday. Many are using the right to submit proxy votes under the consultation process. Residents groups have organised to hand in their responses to Elected Officers at 10.30 on Monday 2nd February at the District Council offices in Epping High St on behalf of all the residents in the area that have ‘signed-up’ to a group submission compiled by their resident or action group. Our MP Eleanor Laing will be present at the 'hand over'. If you can find the time please try to join us on Monday morning to help show that Theydon Bois is well represented. This is not being promoted as any kind of rally or protest.

Gypsies and Travellers Consultation:

Villagers Please Note:

There will be an opportunity on THURSDAY evening, 29th January,  from 8pm for you to sign up to the Theydon Bois Action Group / Theydon Bois Parish Council group response to the Gypsy and Traveller consultation.

We need more support and more signatures to the joint group response, so please come along on Thursday evening and sign up. You can both sign up to a group response and complete an individual questionnaire. Non completion of the questionnaire will be seen as an acceptance of the proposals to locate 21 Gypsy and Traveller pitches on the Green Belt in our village.

Remember the closing date for submissions is
5pm, 6th February 2009

Eleanor Laing MP will be joining all the action and residents groups in the District on MONDAY 2nd February at 10.30am when we will all be delivering our responses to Epping Forest District Council, Civic Offices, Epping.

Time is short please act now - YOUR VILLAGE NEEDS YOU!

Also come along on MONDAY and make your views count.

Gypsies and Travellers Consultation: We now have a new web page devoted to this consultation process with the latest information from the Parish Council and with many useful links in one place to try to provide as much help as possible. The Parish Council wishes to stress to residents that their comments on the consultation on the two proposed sites for Theydon Bois should be based on planning grounds. Any comments that EFDC consider irreverent could result in your whole submission being disregarded. To make your view count it should be focused and relevant, please do not make submissions that appear racist or prejudicial to Gypsies and Travellers, only ones that focus on why the proposed Theydon Bois sites are unsuitable. If in doubt about making a submission wait until wait until the Parish Council gives further guidance or check the help and resource links on the new page. It is also possible to add your name to a Group Response to the Document. So far Theydon Bois Action Group, Theydon Bois & District Rural Preservation Society and South Theydon Bois Action Group have all committed to making Group submissions.

Closing date for submissions to EFDC 6th February 2009.

Next meeting on the Consultation Document will be on
Friday 16th January at 7.30pm in the Primary School Hall.

New Look for 2009: A Happy New Year to all Villagers and visitors. You probably noticed that the Home Page of our site now looks somewhat different. We have decided that it is about time for a change and so we have made a start in revising the site, redesigning the page layout and fonts and, we hope, adding new pages and improving the overall content. It is intended that the Parish Council will have its own dedicated section which should enable you to find any information you want quickly. We hope to change most of the pages over the next couple of months without any site down time.
